Here is a list of the authors and their works that will be on the Victorian test:


  • Victorian historical background
  • Tennyson bio background, "Tears, Idle Tears," "The Lady of Shalott"
  • Browing bio background, "My Last Duchess," "Porphyria's Lover"
  • Barrett bio Browning background, "Sonnet 43"
  • Housman bio background, "To An Athlete Dying Young"
  • Hardy bio background, "Ah, Are You Digging on My Grave"
  • Arnold bio background, "Dover Beach"


  • We will start Oscar Wilde and "The Importance of Being Earnest" on Friday and finish it up next week. We are looking at testing over the Victorian unit Friday, April 23rd.


  • Students will turn in notes over all the above authors and works on test day. In addition, our classes did "Break, Break, Break" and "Crossing the Bar" by Tennyson and "When I Was One and Twenty" by Housman. Although these poems are not on the test, notes will still be turned in because we did cover them in class.




  • The Vocabulary #5 Test is Monday, April 19th. Students will turn in original sentences using the vocabulary words with context clues.
